Region / Hometown: Hoenn - Oldale Town ( She lives in Verdanturf Town with her grandma and little sis because of complex problems with her parents.)

Birthday/Zodiac: December 25th, Capricorn

Family: Dennis (Dad), Anita (Ma), Lyle (Brother, 1 yr-younger), Lin (Sis, 4-yrs younger), Karena (Grandma), Ken (Grandpa)

Class: Trainer; she does try contests in Sinnoh, but she's not too fond of it.

Traveling Companion: Scarlett (Scar) Serway, Megan Mellen, Valencia (Val) Tintoretto

Starter: Poochyena (Becomes a Mightyena during early travel in Hoenn)

Favorite / Least Favorite Food: Onigiri, Sandwiches / Anything with Pumpkin or Mushrooms

Personality + Habits

She's a straight-out tomboy. She didn't grow up playing with dolls or dressup because her dad was the outdoor and adventurous type. She gets bored VERY easily if nothing interesting is happening. When she falls asleep, she would often use Mightyena as her pillow (since Mightyena likes taking naps too)

She's two-faced; she can appear happy and lovable on the outside, but if she's sad, angry, or near a person she's not fond of, she really wants to cry, scream, or stab that person. This doesn't occur often though - the most distinct two-faced occurrences would be when she sees her parents and her brother.

She has a habit of kicking things on the ground while traveling (mostly rocks); she's developed a strong kick doing this. Despite her kicking-strength, she has poor hand-eye coordination. *She sometimes makes herself look like a fool when attempting to throw her trash away in the trashcan xDDD

Laine has no-frame glasses, but she hates wearing them. She thinks that they would be a nuisance with her journey and she worries about them getting squashed or disappearing *Whoops...there goes her sight
Not many know that she has glasses, since she hardly ever uses them unless she really can't see something. When she does wear them, however, she gets a bit violent, rushing towards the person and covering their eyes while screeching to not look at her xD. As she gets older, she starts using them more frequently to the point where she completely relies on them to see.

She has trouble thinking straight when a battle becomes essentially serious. Basically, she enters a state of panic if she's on the verge of losing and the chances for her winning are extremely slim.
[this usually only happens with gym battles and the Pokemon League battles; Trainer-battles - she is fine]

She can't stand self-indulged / arrogant Trainers and adults (people who believe that their pokemon are the best / strongest / cutest / etc) She won't hesitate to give them a piece of their mind with a battle. [She can tolerate this if the characteristic is not shown at the very beginning of introduction]

She likes quick and on-the-go meals over full course meals with plates and forks; she makes sandwiches for her friends to eat on the road and snack breaks. Her favorite fruit is cherries; she usually chews on the seeds for a certain amount of time (almost like gum) before spitting them out [she can shoot pretty far]. Occasionally, she may use this to her own amusement and shoot it at a particular person to get their attention.

Laine shows respect to trainers who are older than her, since she assumes that they have more experience than she does. Younger trainers will have to prove themselves to gain her respect, since she would assume that the younger ones would have less experience. However, there are definitely some older trainers and people who she won't respect due to how arrogant and self-indulged they are.

Laine only cries whenever it's raining, and would like to be near a river (so that she can say that she just splashed her face with water). She won't allow herself to cry in front of people because she thinks that it will make her look weak. She usually brushes it off by saying that something got in her eye or she just yawned. There has been one person that has actually witnessed her crying for real, but later on, she learns to understand the difference between happy and sad tears

Past

When Laine was around 7 yrs old, she and her family went to Slateport City during the summer to celebrate her brother's birthday (July 4) There was a summer festival being hosted during their stay, so they went there to celebrate. While they were there, Laine was not so fond of the clowns and tried her best to stay as far away from them as possible. Later on in the night, a clown came up behind Laine, freaking her out and causing her to separate from her family. Laine was starting to freak out at that point, since she was lost and the carnival was close to closing time. Not knowing where her family was or what to do, she hid behind one of the food booths.

Behind the booth that she hid behind, however, there was a little Poochyena that was sleeping inside an box. Laine stares at it for a minute, and it wakes up. It startled Laine, but Poochyena didn't seem distrubed by Laine's presence. While hiding, Poochyena eventually left the box and walked towards Laine. Laine panics at first, because she thought it was dangerous. Then Laine remembered that she had some food in her bag, so she gave it to him. Poochyena ate it really quickly, then props down next to Laine, and rests its head on Laine's lap before going to sleep again. Laine feels a little intimidated, but slowly pets its head.

After an hour of hiding, the carnival was coming to a close and the owner of the booth saw Laine and realizes that she looks like one of the kids who was reported lost. Laine is reunited with her family, but her parents are enraged and her brother was mad, since they had basically spent the last hour of the carnival looking for Laine. Karena calms them down and encourages everyone to forget about this. Karena eventually sees that Laine is holding a Poochyena and comments and asks where she got him from. Laine didn't really say much, concentrating more on holding Poochyena, which was sleeping in her arms. Laine was, however, a bit traumatized by her experience of being lost. Despite that the Poochyena was with her for a majority of the time, she developed a fear of being alone, for she was afraid of being lost forever and never being found.

The incident appeared to cause a shift in the house's atmosphere, since Laine basically "ruined" Lyle's birthday. During this time, Laine spent most of her time taking care of her Poochyena (which her parents didn't really approve of; Karena was the only reason she was able to keep him) and playing with Lin. A year past and Laine had become more comfortable with Poochyena and had trained with him for a few months. Around this time, Lyle had received his first Pokemon from his dad, a Zigzagoon. Lyle wanted to battle Laine after receiving Zigzagoon. Laine thought that her brother was finally deciding to forgive her, since he had been giving her the evil eye for the past months ever since that summer.

Laine and Lyle battled, but Laine won easily, since she had Poochyena longer and Lyle knew nothing about battling at the time. Laine's mother got mad at Laine for beating her brother, which made Laine mad, since she thought that this was a battle, not a pity match. Lyle went back to giving Laine the evil eye and their mother lectured Laine about how she should have been nicer towards her little brother, which eventually got on Laine's nerve. She consulted her dad, who she thought would be a little more sympathizing, but didn't get the result that she wanted. Ultimately, she decided that she couldn't stay in the house anymore, since everyone was getting on her nerve, so she called her grandma and told her that she was going to live with her. Laine didn't plan on Lin coming, but Lin claimed she didn't want to be alone and that lately, the parents haven't been too friendly with her either.

I think you made a good job with the psychology, I mean, normally the ocs are marysueish and "she dont like being alone because are cute and cry for being alone" I cant stand that kind of shit, you put a good reason and a good story behind the chara... also, I think she's an interesting chara, with a kiddish things
